Live location sharing

Live location sharing lets someone watch your position move on a map in real time — to meet up, stay safe on a trip, or let family know you’re on your way. Share from the free app (it keeps going in the background) or straight from your browser, and send a link that opens on any phone or computer.

Get it on Google Play Android · shares in the background, even with the screen off.

When you start sharing you get a link. Anyone you send it to opens it in their browser and watches your location move on a map live — no app and no account needed to watch.

How to share your live location

  1. Install the free My Location app, or open the browser sharing page.
  2. Choose who can see it and how long — 15 minutes up to several hours (24 hours in the app).
  3. Send the link. The app keeps sharing in the background; the browser shares while the tab is open.

How to view someone’s live location

  1. Open the link they sent you — it works in any browser, no app or sign-in.
  2. You’ll see their position on a map, updating automatically every few seconds.
  3. When they stop sharing or the timer ends, the dot goes offline and the link expires.

Private by design

Sharing only starts when you choose, your live position is visible only to people with the link, and it’s deleted automatically when you stop or the timer ends. Nothing is posted publicly or indexed.

Frequently asked questions

Is live location sharing free?

Yes. Sharing from the browser and from the app is free, with no account required.

Does the other person need the app?

No. The link opens in any browser on any device — no app and no account to watch.

How long does it last?

You choose — 15 minutes up to a few hours in the browser, or up to 24 hours in the app. It stops automatically when the timer ends or as soon as you stop.

Who can see my live location?

Only people you send the link to. It isn’t indexed, updates stop the instant you stop, and all data is deleted when the session ends.
